TV viewers are going gaga for the new hit series Glee, but the show’s young breakout star is not likely to be found out on the town near her set in LA creating tabloid fodder. “You won’t see me out at a club on a table or anything like that, I’d rather be at home making Rachael Ray recipes!” Lea Michele says. Still, the former Broadway star notes her singing and dancing cast mates wouldn’t mind a little attention from the paparazzi. “We’re like, ‘Hey! We’re on a show! Do you guys know who we are?’”

Are you sitting down, Gleeks? Well you might want to, because we have some exclusive Glee news that’s positively Madge-ical. EW has learned that Madonna has given Glee the rights to her catalog and that an all-Madonna-music episode is in the works for early next year. The hit series has been building an audience and filling the iTunes charts with its cover songs, and Madonna’s involvement is a testament to how big the show is getting. Also, an amazing Glee cover of a classic Madonna track has the potential to be even bigger than the show’s blockbuster take on “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Quinn totally has to do “Papa Don’t Preach.” And I can completely see Rachel tackling “Material Girl.”
But Madonna might not be the only pop star getting some Glee love. Co-creator Ryan Murphy tells EW that he’s considering approaching American Idol runner up Adam Lambert about appearing on the show (next year, Glee will be paired with Idol on Wednesday nights). Nothing is official yet but Lambert does seem like an ideal choice for Glee.
Which Madonna song do you wanna hear Glee cover, Music Mix-ers? What would you think about Adam Lambert possibly appearing on the show?

And just when I thought Glee couldn’t get any more surprising, they pull off another one.
Joss Whedon has signed on to direct one of the back nine episodes of the hit musical comedy (or whatever-you-call-it-nowadays) series, Entertainment Weekly reports. The man who gave us a musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and made Neil Patrick Harris sing in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is, apparently a gleek like us, too, so having him direct an episode was just a matter of scheduling.
“Joss directed one of the great musical episodes in the history of television on Buffy,” Glee creator Ryan Murphy said. “This is a great, if unexpected, fit. I’m thrilled he’ll be loaning us his fantastic groundbreaking talent.”

A ruthless brunette with a killer set of pipes who bulldozes through high school with starry ambitions? Takes one to play one. Lea Michele, who launched her Broadway career at 8, seems to feel nothing but warm kinship for Rachel Berry, the alter ego she plays on Fox’s “Glee.” A singing, dancing glee club member with a pair of stage dads and an eye on stardom, Rachel at one point announces, “There is nothing ironic about show choir.”
A Manhattan native, Michele has lived in her own apartment since she graduated from high school (she’s putting college on permanent hold) and was most recently spotted on Broadway in “Spring Awakening” (Michele freely admits she can’t read music, but it looks as if that hasn’t hurt). Freshly returned to her new Los Angeles digs, Michele spoke with us on the eve of her 23rd birthday.

Yesterday was a banner day for “Glee” fans. Not only did the show receive a full season pickup from Fox, but one of the show’s most anticipated songs “leaked” online. I put that in quotes, because its sudden online appearance feels like a bit of a thank you to fans, no?

First thing’s first, though. After initially producing 13 episodes, Fox recognized the immense support America had for its gleeks and decided that nine more installments were imperative. “It’s fantastic to be the first show picked up and that this underdog series, like its characters, will get the chance to keep singing,” said series co-creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy. He also teased, “there are so many more stories to tell.”
Then, just hours later, the one song that nearly every single actor singled out as their favorite of the season hit the interwebs! “Somebody To Love” not only has goosebump eliciting moments from Lea Michele and Amber Riley but it’s the first performances that makes New Directions seem like they’re headed in a winning one!
Somebody To Love-Glee
Fox just ordered an additional batch of Glee episodes, to complete that show’s first-season order. The musical comedy has produced 13 episodes so far, but the cast was in limbo about a full-season order until today, when Fox announced the pickup.
