Glee’s Lea Michele is no stranger to belting it out to large crowds or planting her lips on a handsome boy or two, but in the star-studded film New Year’s Eve, Lea gets the opportunity to do both on the big screen. So we had to ask, what’s scarier — kissing a big star like Ashton, or singing in front of thousands?
“Oh my gosh, singing,” Lea replies almost immediately. “I mean who wouldn’t choose to kiss Ashton?”
Although the 25-year-old has a rich background on Broadway as well as performing countless numbers on Glee, Lea concedes to falling prey to a butterfly or two when she sings, though the phenomenon is something she mostly experiences in a one-on-one setting.
“I would choose to sing in front of a hundred thousand people over one person any day,” confesses Michele. “I get to sing all the time but there is something about having to sing in front of just one person that is incredibly nerve wracking and it’s scary. Cory Monteith, who I work with on Glee, I sing in front of him all the time and the other day I had to do a song just one-on-one directly to him and I was so nervous.”

Taylor Swift, Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood are all in the running for the highly coveted role of Eponine in Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper’s big-screen version of “Les Misérables,” sources tell us. A source close to the film confirmed that the four actors have all auditioned for the role. Another said that Michele “knocked it out of the park” when the “Glee” star — who played Young Cosette in the Broadway show — recently performed for the “King’s Speech” director. But it will be a tough choice because each star has her own magic ingredient for the musical based on Victor Hugo’s novel. “Scarlett brings acting ability, and she can really sing,” said the source. “Evan Rachel Wood brings her indie cred.” And casting Swift would mark a major move over to Hollywood films for the pop star. The Working Title and Universal movie is already stocked with stars, including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Geoffrey Rush.

‘New Year’s Eve’ Soundtrack Announced

Watertower Music has announced a soundtrack album for Garry Marshall’s ensemble comedy New Year’s Eve. The album includes a number of songs from the movie by artists, including Jon Bon Jovi, actress Lea Michele, Kate York, Goo Goo Dolls, P!nk, Katie Herzig, Charles Brown, Duncan and Sophie B. Hawkins. The soundtrack will be released on December 6, 2011. None of the original score by John Debney is included on the album, but a separate score album might be released at a later date (just as with Marshall’s previous movie Valentine’s Day). New Year’s Eve stars Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry, Robert De Niro, Sofia Vergara, Jon Bon Jovi, Hilary Swank, Lea Michele, Zac Efron, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Josh Duhamel, Seth Meyers, Hector Elizondo, Abigail Breslin, Michelle Pfeiffer and Katherine Heigl.
